Certificate in Adventure Leadership
Program Description:

The certificate in Adventure Leadership is an educational process for people who are want to excel as challenge course facilitators.  Although the primary tool is the challenge course, participants will also be exposed to other adventure pursuits such as rock climbing, and orienteering.  This preparation as a group facilitator can enhance the basic skills that are used in so many professions such as: ministry, education, social service or therapeutic roles and even management in business.  This is an opportunity to received advanced training, real world field experience and individual coaching while learning to teach as Jesus taught – experientially.

What do participants receive?

  • 14 days of advanced ropes course training
  • 12 days of coaching in a group based supervision model
  • Level 2 Certification as a ropes course instructor
  • First Aid/CPR certification
  • Exposure to a minimum of 6 different styles of ropes course.
  • Exposure to a variety of group types – youth to corporate programs to special needs participants
  • Assistance with placement as summer ropes course staff with top camp programs (if desired).
  • Up to $1875 stipend for required ropes course work (final amount depends on how many days are worked on CQ member courses).

What are the training modules?

  • Advanced Ropes Course Facilitation (4 days)
  • The Spiritual Facilitator (2 days)
  • The Corporate Facilitator  (4 days)
  • Safety Systems for Participants with Limited Mobility (2 days)
  • Managing a Top Rope Climbing Site (2 days)

What is required in the program?

  • Successfully completing all training modules.
  • 20 Hours of supervised course inspection
  • 25 days of ropes course work as instructor
  • 4 formal feedback sessions with a level 2 qualified instructor
  • Successfully complete written and practical test for Level 2 Certification.
  • Students have 12 months to complete the program.
